Thomas Jefferson's Cut-and-Paste Bible - WSJ.com

The result was "The Philosophy of Jesus of Nazareth": a severely abridged text (now lost) that, like the apocryphal Gospel of Thomas, consisted entirely of Jesus' sayings. In this "precious morsel of ethics," as Jefferson put it, Jesus prayed to God and affirmed the afterlife, but he was not born in a manger and did not die to atone for anyone's sins.

Thomas Jefferson's Cut-and-Paste Bible - WSJ.com: "During the election of 1800, Jefferson was denounced as a 'howling atheist' and 'a confirmed infidel' known for 'vilifying the divine word, and preaching insurrection against God.' But the Virginian also revered Jesus as 'the first of human Sages' and was, according to one biographer, 'the most self-consciously theological of all American presidents.'"

After completing this second micro-testament, Jefferson claimed in a letter to a friend that it demonstrated his bona fides as a Christian. "It is a document in proof that I am a real Christian, that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus."

That, of course, has been hotly debated from the election of 1800 to today, and Jefferson has been called an infidel, a Deist and more. What is most clear is that he was not a traditional Christian. He unequivocally rejected the Nicene Creed, which has defined orthodoxy for most Christians since 381. And he was contemptuous of the doctrine of the Trinity, calling it "mere Abracadabra" and "hocus-pocus phantasm."

None of that prevented Jefferson from claiming to represent real Christianity, or from dismissing his clerical despisers as "Pseudo-Christians"—imposters peddling a counterfeit faith. Religion is about doing good, he insisted, not abstract theologizing.

The Scoop on St. Patrick - Manage Your Life on Shine

The Scoop on St. Patrick - Manage Your Life on Shine: "According to author Thomas Cahill, Patrick may have been the first person in recorded history to speak out against slavery. In an interview with American Catholic, Cahill remarks: 'The papacy did not condemn slavery as immoral until the end of the 19th century, but here is Patrick in the fifth century seeing it for what it is. I think that shows enormous insight and courage and a tremendous 'fellow feeling'—the ability to suffer with other people, and to understand what other people's suffering is like.'"

Harry's Law: Legal System

Why India Might Save the Planet - Newsweek

Why India Might Save the Planet - Newsweek: "Ramesh ridicules what he calls the fashionable “lifestyle environmentalism” that dominates Western Europe, where the affluent compete to outdo one another in recycling, composting, and the installation of solar panels. What India needs, he says, is “livelihood environmentalism,” which preserves the bodies of water, forests, and grazing land on which the nation’s impoverished farmers, fishermen, and tribal groups depend. These ecosystems, he argues, are as essential to India as its new factories and mines."

Spring Break!

I'm not going to lock you out.

But you really need to think long and hard about why you are coming and what you hope to accomplish. Don't be a fool believing empowered having consensus of opinions on your side; that you know what you are doing. You may only end up making things worse.

I've been dealing with Mother since the age of 23.....and have lost all patience with her. She is making no attempt at all to accept her son for what he is. I have offered her so many way she could temper my anger; and she has refused everyone of them. And I believe in your own way you are doing the same thing. Tennis is not an excuse........it's a black hole .... to block everything else out.....just like mother's out of the blues "Jesus is her Man!" It's all DOPE!

I've been a loner all my life and you would be amazed what one learns about the human race just quietly observing while living two parallel lives jumping in and out of the shadows. And when I finally reach a point in my life where I felt safe enough, as well as the confidence to openly stand up to condescension's of any kind (even if not my battle, including within my own tribe); shocked how even my own family is making no attempt.....at all......to listen to what I have to say.

Well I'm am no longer willing to hide how deeply ashamed of my family I am or the need to spare them my criticism.

Any attempt of controlling my language, topics I choose to talk about, or disapproval of my lifestyle....... and you two are out of here.

Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand? And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your people drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

─Matthew 12:25-28

Has Mother considered seeking help. They have drugs for that.....you know.

Phil Zuckerman: Why Evangelicals Hate Jesus

Phil Zuckerman: Why Evangelicals Hate Jesus: "Jesus unambiguously preached mercy and forgiveness. These are supposed to be cardinal virtues of the Christian faith. And yet Evangelicals are the most supportive of the death penalty, draconian sentencing, punitive punishment over rehabilitation, and the governmental use of torture. Jesus exhorted humans to be loving, peaceful, and non-violent. And yet Evangelicals are the group of Americans most supportive of easy-access weaponry, little-to-no regulation of handgun and semi-automatic gun ownership, not to mention the violent military invasion of various countries around the world. Jesus was very clear that the pursuit of wealth was inimical to the Kingdom of God, that the rich are to be condemned, and that to be a follower of Him means to give one's money to the poor. And yet Evangelicals are the most supportive of corporate greed and capitalistic excess, and they are the most opposed to institutional help for the nation's poor -- especially poor children. They hate anything that smacks of 'socialism,' even though that is essentially what their Savior preached. They despise food stamp programs, subsidies for schools, hospitals, job training -- anything that might dare to help out those in need. Even though helping out those in need was exactly what Jesus urged humans to do. In short, Evangelicals are that segment of America which is the most pro-militaristic, pro-gun, and pro-corporate, while simultaneously claiming to be most ardent lovers of the Prince of Peace."

Evangelicals don't exactly hate Jesus -- as we've provocatively asserted in the title of this piece. They do love him dearly. But not because of what he tried to teach humanity. Rather, Evangelicals love Jesus for what he does for them. Through his magical grace, and by shedding his precious blood, Jesus saves Evangelicals from everlasting torture in hell, and guarantees them a premium, luxury villa in heaven. For this, and this only, they love him. They can't stop thanking him. And yet, as for Jesus himself -- his core values of peace, his core teachings of social justice, his core commandments of goodwill -- most Evangelicals seem to have nothing but disdain.

Are whites racially oppressed? - CNN.com

Are whites racially oppressed? - CNN.com: "Diversity, he says, 'is not strength.'
Brimelow's website, VDARE.COM, has been described as a hate site by the Southern Poverty Law Center, a group that tracks extremist groups in the U.S.
Some may see him as extreme, but Brimelow argues in his columns that more white Americans are moving toward his stance on immigration and other issues.
He cites as proof the rise of the Tea Party movement and the racial makeup of Beck's march on Washington. He says more whites recognize, even if it's only on a subliminal level, that they have common interests to defend.
'Of course, they would deny this, quite sincerely, if you put it to them because the idea of whites defending their interests as whites is quite new,' he says. 'Americans are trained to think that any explicit defense of white interests is 'racist.' '"
