Tim Tebow CANCELS Speech at Controversial Church | TMZ.com: Tim Tebow has officially yanked himself from a speaking engagement at a church in Dallas ... after reports surfaced that he'd be sharing the pulpit with a preacher who has denounced Jews and gays.

"While I was looking forward to sharing a message of hope and Christ's unconditional love with the faithful members of the historic First Baptist Church of Dallas in April, due to new information that has been brought to my attention, I have decided to cancel my upcoming appearance."

Tebow made no specific references to the preacher who made the homophobic and anti-Semitic statements -- Dr. Robert Jeffress -- but it's pretty obvious Tebow realized the negative PR implications of being photographed next to the guy.

FOCUS ON FAMILY,

a group very well known for it's anti-gay civil rights campaigns.

 

Maybe the negative PR implications weren't enough.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit...
Tebow coming out of the closet after his mother dies.

Would be a terrible burden living with...
the worry of a mother's reaction to one being gay after their much publicized story of his miraculous birth.

If he were raised Catholic instead of Baptist,
probably would have pursued becoming a priest instead of a football player.
